Nominations must be received before 12:01 AM February 18, 2022 for inclusion on the ballot.

Members seeking election to any position should know the following:

Board 54’s Executive Committee is composed of six officers (President, Vice President, Second Vice President, Immediate Past President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Interpreter) and seven At-Large Executives. The Committee typically meets five times a year (September, December, January, February, May). Members of the Executive Committee should also, whenever possible, be present at all general membership meetings for setup and supervision. The Committee conducts the administrative functions of the Board, enforces all regulations contained in the Board 54 and IAABO Constitutions, and facilitates membership services. The Committee also coordinates IAABO initiatives such as Officials vs. Cancer and Special Olympics. It should be noted that the Committee DOES NOT rate, rank, or otherwise evaluate officials and DOES NOT assign officials to games.

The member elected Second Vice President will serve the Board for four consecutive years, automatically advancing through the following leadership cycle: Second Vice President in 2022-23, Vice President in 2023-24, Board President in 2024-25, and Past President in 2025-26.

The Secretary-Treasurer serves a three-year term and is responsible for all correspondence, record keeping, and has general charge of the Board’s finances. The Secretary-Treasurer is responsible for recording and collecting all dues and other assessments from members, and prepares the agendas and minutes of all Committee meetings. The Secretary-Treasurer prepares a detailed statement of the Board’s financial position for review by the Executive Committee, and is responsible for all interactions between Board 54 and IAABO, IAABO’s insurance providers, and the MSBOA. The Secretary-Treasurer produces the annual Membership Directory booklet.

The Interpreter serves a three-year term, rules on all questions pertaining to the rules of basketball, and presides at all Interpretation Meetings and the Interpretation session of membership meetings. The Interpreter conducts an annual training course and floor test for applicants seeking membership in IAABO. The interpreter also mentors all individuals enrolled in IAABO’s online instructional and examination program, IAABO University. The Interpreter should attend IAABO’s three-day Fall Seminar on an annual basis in order to stay current with rules and mechanics changes and have access to the most updated instructional tools.

At-Large Executives serve two-year terms on the Committee.

Terms for all Officers and Executives elected in 2022 commence April 1st.

Members who would like more information on commitment required of the Board’s elected leaders are encouraged to contact any present member of the Committee.

If you have questions about the remote nomination and election process, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thank you, and good luck to all candidates.

Sincerely,
